Danny Collier, one of the partners in the law firm of Luther, Collier, Hodges & Cash, ran his first marathon on January 8, 2012. He was among 460 competitors who ran 26.2 miles throughout Mobile, Alabama.
The mid-winter course winds through the beautiful Oakleigh Garden Historic District before turning west toward the hills of Spring Hill. At the half-way point the runners find brief solace in a nice downhill stretch before the hills begin again at the University of South Alabama campus, around Municipal Park and up Fire House Hill. Finally, the runners’ last 10 kilometers take them back through Spring Hill and Spring Hill College, and down Springhill Avenue and Dauphin Street.
At the finish line located at Beinville Square in downtown Mobile, the marathoners find encouragement from family, friends and cheering race watchers.
The BankTrust First Light Marathon, that includes a 1.2 Mile Fun Run, a 5-Person Relay and a Half Marathon, benefits the L’Arche Mobile community. http://www.firstlightmarathon.com/
